1.1Summarise the development of the UK popular music recording industry from the 1950ââ¬â¢s to the present day. 50ââ¬â¢s The 1950ââ¬â¢s represent the beginning of the development of the music industry, as it is known today. It is from here on that the genre of ââ¬Ëpopular musicââ¬â¢ existed and began to dominate the charts. Of course, there were acts that existed before the 50ââ¬â¢s, and made a good name for them selves, acts like Bing Crosby, but it was in the 50ââ¬â¢s that certain artists became household names, and idols to the masses. The first, and most iconic of these artistes, is of course, Elvis Presley. After making a name for him self in the states, Elvisââ¬â¢ music then began to cross the border into other countries, and continents. Elvis was the firstâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Playing the guitar in ways never seen before, Clapton was hailed as a god, and the genre of blues was re-instated into the music industry. Clapton then went on to form the first ââ¬Ësuper groupââ¬â¢. In 1966, Cream were formed, and by combining Claptonââ¬â¢s bluesy styles with the more rocky style of Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, Cream created a new genre of blues rock. Zepplin could also be credited for pioneering this genre. It was this genre that got Cream and Zeppelin noticed in the US. In 1964, Top of the Pops was born. Like previous music shows, it was a showcase of musical talent. The show went down brilliantly in the UK, with mass numbers watching the show each week to catch a glimpse of their idols. All the current acts at the time were called to play on the show, and it was great publicity for each act. Top of the Pops continued for many decades. Also in ââ¬â¢64, new musical technologies were developed and brought to the mainstream market, such things as organs. This allowed acts to create new sounds push the boundaries of popular music even further. Into the 2nd half of the decade came the arrival of The Rolling Stones and The Who. These continued along the Blues Rock path pioneered by Cream and Zeppelin, and both had great success. It was these acts that led to the nickname, ââ¬Ëthe swinging 60ââ¬â¢sââ¬â¢. 1966 saw the beginning of psychedelic music. It was The Beatles who first began to experiment like this. Adding new

Mercurys Maturity Essay Example For Students
Mercurys Maturity Essay Mercurys Maturity Essay: A Response to Raymonds Run Former Miami Dolphin Head Coach Don Shula once said, If youre going to take gambles, you must have one thing: self-confidence. Some people go through their whole lives skeptical of themselves. Most people are afraid to take chances for this same reason. Robert Olen Butlers character in Raymonds Run, Hazel Elizabeth Deborah Parker is a remarkable character because she is mature at such a young age. Hazel is a unique child because of her grown-up characteristics. Self-confidence, self-identity, and a caring nature are some qualities that make Hazel Elizabeth Deborah Parker a phenomenal character. Hazel is truly an unbelievable character because of her self-confidence. A point could be made that Mercury is overconfident. Hazel is not being arrogant; rather she is comfortable with the truth. I always win cause Im the best (9), Mercury could be considered disdainful is she hasnt proved that she is the best but she has validated that she is the top dog. Another example of Hazels self-confidence is her training routine. Ill high prance down 34th Street like a rodeo pony to keep my knees strong (5). A child wants to be accepted by his/her peers and the child does not want to look strange in front of them. That may be the case with most children but not with Hazel. Hazel does not care who sees her walking in this peculiar manor as long as she strengthens her legs. Hazel believes she can be the best at everything and this confidence should not be mistaken or taken as arrogance. Another unique trait Hazel has acquired is her self-identity. Hazel is comfortable with who she is. a poor black girl who really cant afford to buy shoes and a new dress you only wear once a lifetime cause it wont fit next year (14). Hazel knows her circumstances and is comfortable with them, I am not a strawberry. I do not dance on my toes. I run. That is what I am all about (15). Hazel also likes her name and will not have people call her Squeaky, Well Squeaky, he saysHazel Elizabeth Deborah Parker, I correct him and tell him to write it down on his board (19). Hazel always has a sense of what is right and what is wrong. Hazel isnt too pleased when Mr. Pearson asked her to throw the race, I give him such a look he couldnt finish putting that idea into words (21). Hazel also doesnt care for people who are fake, Now you take Cynthia Procter for instanceIf theres a test tomorrow, shell say somethingjust to let you know she aint thinking about the testI could kill people like that (5). Most people arent aware of who they are until later in life, but Hazel knows who she is at a very young age. Although Hazel is confident in herself and aware of her self-identity, she also cares for those around her. Hazel is a very caring person towards her brother Raymond. At an age when most children can not even be alone themselves, Hazel is watching her mentally handicapped brother. Hazel knows she has to protect her brother, someones liable to walk up to him and get smart, or take his allowance, or ask him where he got that great big pumpkin head (5). Hazel watches over Raymond, Im standing on the corner and Ive got Raymond walking on the inside close to the buildings, cause hes subject to fits of fantasy (4). Hazel also protects her brother from other children, You got anything to say to my brother, you say it to me, Mary Louise Williams of Raggedy Town, Baltimore (10). .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88 , .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88 .postImageUrl , .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88 , .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88:hover , .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88:visited , .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88:active { border:0!important; } .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88:active , .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88 .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u6bee88c3fc3d6001864fdc3fd9c98e88:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Future Perspective in Intelligence Essay Also, Hazel stops what she loves to do most, run, so she can teach her brother how to run track. I can always retire as a runner and begin a whole new career as a coach with Raymond as my champion (24). This is the best example to explain Hazels maturity. Most children her age only think of themselves. However, Hazel has decided to help her brother because he has talent and she wants to give him something. Hazels mature traits make her an astonishing character. Hazel is confident .
